Revel in the spirit of the season and discover what’s brand new at wonderful Longwood Gardens as we visit two locales decked out for the holidays. First stop is Historic New Castle, Delaware, named one of America’s most beautiful small towns. We’ll have guided tours at two historic houses, Amstel House and the Dutch House, and learn how families who lived there made their holidays special. Next, we’ll head to Longwood Gardens, where we’ll find a wonderland of holiday lights, scents and sounds. Immerse yourself in an array of decorated trees, poinsettias and fragrant flowers in the grand Conservatory. Set foot for the first time in Longwood’s new 32,000-square-foot West Conservatory, where asymmetrical roof peaks rise above a pool making the whole building seem to float, and indoor gardens are set amid canals and fountains. Outside wander through gardens dazzling with a half-million lights and lighted fountains; pause if you wish at a cozy fire pit. Dinner will be at a time of your choice, in one of Longwood’s tented eateries. You’ll have a $20 voucher to apply to the meal. Remember to check the weather and dress appropriately for the evening garden stroll.
Note: Please have lunch before you join us for the trip.
