This tour of America\u2019s first hospital, founded by Benjamin Franklin and Dr. Thomas Bond in 1751, includes preserved spaces such as the nation\u2019s first surgical amphitheater, the historic medical library, and the newly restored apothecary, displaying notes by Benjamin Franklin. Eight unique galleries feature interactive video and hands-on activities illustrating previously untold stories about Pennsylvania Hospital\u2019s role in the history of modern medicine. After lunch at a nearby restaurant, we\u2019ll continue to the Masonic Temple Library and Museum of Philadelphia, showcasing its world-renowned, eclectic architecture and rich history. This National Historic Landmark houses seven stunningly ornate lodge rooms modeled after different ancient design styles, such as: Ancient Egyptian, Norman, Gothic, and Ionic.
