African American History and Culture at the Smithsonian’s Newest Museum
We’ve finally been able to secure a group tour at the new National Museum of African American History and Culture (NMAAHC)! This exciting Smithsonian on the Mall in Washington is the only national museum devoted to African American life, history and culture. To take advantage of this opportunity, we will spend the entire day there – the morning exploring on our own, lunch at their Sweet Home Café, and an afternoon guided tour of a special exhibition on the life experiences of African Americans during the World War I era entitled We Return Fighting. From the innovative architecture to the astounding collection of artifacts, there will be so many things to do and see that we cannot possibly do them all in one visit. We will provide you with museum maps and suggestions on the bus to help you choose the things that interest you most. To get ready for your visit, prepare to pass through security screening, wear comfortable shoes, and be prepared for lots of standing.
Cost includes transportation, entrance fees, guides, lunch, snacks and gratuities.
