Papercutting is an ancient art form with original papercuts dating back to the 6th century in China. Since that time, artisans have used paper, scissors, and knives to create objects both ornamental and functional. Perhaps you made a snow flake in grade school or have seen silhouettes. These are forms of papercutting. In this class we will explore the influence of Islamic Architecture in papercutting. These geometric patterns are often based on complex, repeating shapes that create a sense of infinity. Please bring $10 to the first class for materials.
