Description
Throughout the history of movies and TV, Philadelphians have played important roles, whether behind the camera, like silent film producer Seigmund Lubin and film composer David Raksin, or in front, like Lionel Barrymore, Jeanette MacDonald, Grace Kelly, WC Fields, and Larry Fine of the Three Stooges. We’ll discuss early television inventions, the birth of American Bandstand, and pioneering Philly TV personalities like Gene London and Sally Starr, and we’ll test your knowledge with TV trivia and “Name That Tune” contests. Finally, we’ll screen the video “100 Years of Philly History,” presenting memorable moments from entertainment, sports, and much more.
